About Me
Welcome stranger. My name, as you may already know, is Renaud Bourassa. I currently study Software
Engineering at the University of Waterloo. I am what you may call a geek, if by that you
mean someone able to harvest the power of the latest technologies. I also have a lot
of interest in the business world and all its facets. But if you prefer to talk music, I would
be more than pleased to do so, as long as you listen to good music.
I like to create new projects, work on new ideas, design new solutions. I enjoy the creation process in all its forms. I learn a lot by myself. As such, you will often find me hacking my way into the newest technologies or reading the latest publications. I have a predilection for the Cloud and all its related technologies, but any genuine technical challenge is worthwile for me.
My Background
I was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1989. I did my high school studies at the Collège Durocher Saint-Lambert. For my collegial studies, I attented the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf where I graduated with an International Baccalaureat Diploma and a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Pure and Applied Science. I now pursue a degree in Software Engineering at the University of Waterloo. As of now I completed my first year.
Prior to University, I worked as a freelance programmer on various web projects, mostly web design contracts. For my first work term, I worked at Artificial Mind and Movement, the largest independant video game studio in Canada. I was employed as a software engineer on the company's Wii/PS2/PSP game engine. While there, I redesigned the networking engine and I implemented an automated documentation system in the build process. My other tasks were to fix bugs and develop new features, especially on the audio engine.
